NEWPORT BEACH : Former President of Israel to Talk Sunday
Former Israeli President Chaim Herzog will discuss the Middle East peace accords at a temple here Sunday evening.
Herzog had been president of Israel for 10 years, beginning in 1983, and has had a hand in the peace negotiations between the Israeli government and the Palestinians. He retired from the presidency in May after two five-year terms.
About 1,000 are expected to attend the event at the Temple Bat Yahm, at 1011 Camelback St. Organizers say that only about 100 tickets remain and can be picked up at the door Sunday night.
Herzog’s speech Sunday will focus on the political climate in Israel and the social impacts of peace.
