It Was One Hot Day at Castaic

Dave Brink of Castaic and Shane Connaughton of West Hills will long remember the fishing at Castaic Lake the past week.

Brink, a carpet-layer, not only landed the second biggest of the many big largemouth bass taken--14 pounds even, along with five others eight pounds or larger--but while fishing with Manuel Aki of Castaic he highlighted his week by rescuing three people from a burning ski boat.

Connaughton celebrated his 14th birthday fishing with guide Gary Harrison, who led him to three catches from 14 pounds 1 ounce to 12-5, along with two smaller catches.
