VENTURA : Council Expected to Ask Breakwater Bids
The Ventura City Council on Monday is expected to request bids to build a $525,000 breakwater at Marina Park to stabilize the beach and stop beach erosion.
The 100-foot spur groin will be connected to an existing jetty at the end of Greenock Lane. According to a city report, 97% of the project costs will be funded by the California Department of Boating and Waterways. The city will pay the remainder.
Consultants estimate that actual construction of the structure will cost $450,000. The remaining $75,000 will go toward unexpected costs and construction administration.
If the council approves the measure, bids would go out Dec. 7.
