Sore Losers Adamant

Share

I can’t say that I was shocked at the Oct. 26 article about a coalition seeking to recall school board members Debbie Sandland, Diane Collins and Carla Kurachi.

While I fully support these three board members as people who have my future, welfare, and best interests at heart as a student in this district, I must say that I can understand the feelings of these “concerned” parents and that of their spokesman, Don Otto, a loser in the school board election in 1990.

Actually, any of us who remember our childhood could empathize with these people. Little children hate to lose games and contests. Oftentimes, the defeated will argue for hours and hold grudges against their peers, refusing to “die” if they’re shot in a game of cops and robbers or cowboys and Indians, will attempt to change the rules to make themselves winners, or will take their toys and go home if they don’t get their way.

The problem here is that these obstinate, sore losers of the middle schools’ debate are still arguing years later and won’t shut up and go home. They are adamant, all right. They don’t want anyone to try to confuse them with the facts. For facts and education are the surest weapons against the mass hysteria they are attempting to stir.
