The Region : 2 Medflies Found in Traps
Cooperative Medfly Project officials found two female Medflies in the San Gabriel Valley last week during a sweep of existing quarantine areas.
One mated female fly was found Tuesday in Monrovia in a persimmon tree near Myrtle Avenue and East El Sur Street, and an unmated female fly was trapped in Altadena in a fig tree near the corner of Crary Street and Pepper Drive.
Eight other Medflies were found around Los Angeles County, DeWing said. Residents can expect to find Medfly Project staff members applying malathion bait to the foliage within a 650-foot radius of the fly finds.
