Regina McPartlin; Former Mother General at Immaculate Heart

Regina McPartlin, 89, former Mother General of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She entered the order in 1923 and over the years taught at Immaculate Heart and Saint Anthony’s high schools in Los Angeles and Long Beach respectively, and at Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. She was Mother General of the community from 1951 to 1963 and her tenure was marked by the construction of 15 parochial schools in California, Texas, Arizona and British Columbia and the building of three hospitals in the Los Angeles area. In 1961, she was named a Los Angeles Times “Woman of the Year.” In Los Angeles on Friday.
