Executive Leaves Apple to Take Post at Toshiba

Peter Ashkin has been appointed vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc.’s Computer Systems Engineering division. Before joining Toshiba in Irvine, Ashkin held various positions with Apple Computer Inc., most recently as director of new media products for the Macintosh Desktop CPU Group. He also spent five years at Hewlett-Packard Co., where he held several management engineering positions.

* Garry Lay, Lawrence Lovett and Rosalind Munro have been elected principals at Leighton and Associates Inc., a geotechnical and environmental consulting firm in Irvine. Lay is director of engineering for the firm in the Los Angeles region and serves as project manager of the Spanish Hills Golf Course in Camarillo. Lovett is director of materials testing and inspection services, and Munro is director of geology in the Orange County Regional Center.
