NHL ROUNDUP : Rangers Extend Streak to 14

The New York Rangers just keep rolling.

Wednesday night, they steamrollered the Ottawa Senators, 7-1, at Ottawa, extending their unbeaten streak to 14 games (12-0-2).

The Senators, meanwhile, lost their fifth consecutive game and seventh in a row at home.

Ranger goaltender Glenn Healy, making his first start since Oct. 16 in Philadelphia, faced only 15 Ottawa shots to pick up his sixth victory against one loss this season.

Chicago 3, Edmonton 1--The Blackhawks’ Michel Goulet had two goals at Edmonton.

The Oilers are off to a 3-18-3 start, the worst in the league. The bulk of the losses have been by one or two goals.

Philadelphia 9, Montreal 2--Kevin Dineen scored three goals as the Flyers scored six second-period goals at Philadelphia.

The Flyers won for only the second time in their last seven decisions (2-4-1) and for the first time in five games at home against Montreal (1-2-2).

New Jersey 5, Buffalo 3--The Devils used a strong checking game at Buffalo to win their fifth consecutive road game.

The Devils also ended the Sabres’ three-game winning streak.

Washington 5, St. Louis 2--Calle Johansson and Pat Peake scored power-play goals in an 87-second span of the third period to lead the Capitals at Landover, Md.

Dallas 2, N.Y. Islanders 2--Darcy Wakaluk of the Stars stopped 47 shots and Dean Evason scored the tying goal in the second period at Dallas.

Tampa Bay 4, Hartford 1--Brian Bradley scored two goals and helped ignite a three-goal second period at St. Petersburg.

Pittsburgh 7, Boston 3--Kevin Stevens scored twice and Grant Jennings had a short-handed goal at Pittsburgh as the Penguins ended the Bruins’ eight-game unbeaten streak.

The Bruins had gone 6-0-2 since losing, 6-1, at Detroit on Nov. 2.

Calgary 5, Toronto 3-- Al MacInnis and Ronnie Stern scored 27 seconds apart late in the third period as the Flames rallied at Calgary.

Detroit 5, Vancouver 4--Sergei Fedorov’s power-play goal 1:18 into overtime was the game-winner at Vancouver.

The Red Wings rallied from a 4-2 deficit in the third period.
