Ex-Video Chief to Run Music Distributor WEA

Warner Music Group is making David Mount sole president and chief executive of its WEA Corp., the nation’s top music distributor, effective Saturday.

Mount was recruited by Warner to become co-president and chief executive in September. Henry Droz, who shared the title, retired this week.

Before joining WEA, Mount was president and chief executive of video distributor LIVE Entertainment in Van Nuys.

Polygram Filmed Entertainment has named Caroline Southey vice president of literary rights.

Atlantic Records announced several appointments.

Darryl Lindsey is the new national director of rap music for Atlantic’s black music division, while Chrissy Murray is senior director of black music media relations.

Also, Atlantic named Lisa Valasquez vice president of crossover/pop promotion, Bobbie Gale manager of media relations for the West Coast and Catherine Berclaz senior director of video services.

Jimmy Ashwill has joined Sony Pictures’ Post Production Facilities.

Walt Disney Co.’s Disney-MGM Studios in Orlando has named Jim Washburn director of new business development for the West Coast, Nancy Henson general manager of the studio facilities and Cal McWhorter head of facilities.

Media City Teleproduction Center in Burbank has promoted David Kingsbury to director of operations and Frank Anderson to director of engineering.
