CAMARILLO : Casa Pacifica Nears $10-Million Goal

A group that aids abused and neglected children in Ventura County is about $500,000 away from reaching its $10-million fund-raising goal, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.

“We’re almost there,” said Tanya Gonzales, a spokeswoman for Casa Pacifica. “We’re just trying to raise that last chunk.” The charity group got a boost in fund raising Wednesday when the Camarillo Rotary clubs presented it with a check for $25,000.

Rotarians who meet at breakfast and lunch raised the money by holding a charity golf tournament during the summer at the Spanish Hills golf course in Camarillo.

The clubs have pledged to raise $250,000 for Casa Pacifica by holding golf tournaments, Gonzales said.

Casa Pacific is using the $10 million to pay for the construction and operation of a children’s crisis care center in Camarillo, Gonzales said. That center is under construction and is scheduled to open next spring, she said.
