Mark Hardwick; Co-Creator of Broadway Musicals

Mark Hardwick, 39, pianist, actor and co-creator of Broadway musicals. A native of Texas, Hardwick attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He co-created and performed in the Broadway musical “Pump Boys and Dinettes,” which was nominated for a Tony in 1982. Hardwick was seen on stage at the Pasadena Playhouse last fall and in Santa Barbara’s Lobero Theatre in February in the off-Broadway musical he co-created called “Oil City Symphony.” He earned Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for the show about a reunion concert by four middle-aged alumni in a small-town high school gym. Hardwick also directed and arranged the music for the show “Smoke on the Mountain” and worked on such films as “Broadway Danny Rose” and “Men Don’t Leave.” On Nov. 17 in New York City after an extended illness.
