Thanksgiving Weekend Box Office : Attendance Good but Off 20% From ’92

The Wednesday-Sunday Thanksgiving holiday weekend set no records at the box office and was off 20% from last year’s record holiday gross of $134 million, according to final numbers released on Monday. Still, the five-day period was a strong one for moviegoing, with a gross of $106.8 million for the 22 movies grossing more than $500,000 in the market.

The Robin Williams cross-dressing comedy “Mrs. Doubtfire” was way out front with $27.6 million in tickets sold over the five days. And it appears as though it will continue to rule the roost this weekend, with no major new films opening.
