A driver was arrested on suspicion of fatally hitting a 75-year-old pedestrian, police said Monday.
The accident happened about 7:05 p.m. Sunday on Pacific Coast Highway, north of Mariner Drive, police dispatcher John Liebl said.
Gawin Arron Thomas, 31, of Long Beach, who was driving a van, struck Robert George Schmitt of Huntington Beach, Liebl said. Police could not say if Schmitt had been in a crosswalk.
