VAN NUYS : New Blythe Street Charge Is Filed

Share

A reputed member of a Blythe Street gang who was convicted Monday of putting graffiti on his apartment building was charged again Wednesday, this time with violating a sweeping injunction that prohibits alleged gang-related activity.

Ramon Rodrigo Aguilera, 18, was charged with violating one aspect of the court order that bars members of the Panorama City gang from entering or standing on private property without the written permission of the owner.

In a misdemeanor criminal complaint filed in Van Nuys Municipal Court, Deputy City Atty. Richard Schmidt charged Aguilera with trespassing and violating the court order. Both crimes are punishable by up to six months in County Jail.

Aguilera was ordered to appear Dec. 15 in court for an arraignment.

The charges are the result of a Nov. 24 incident where Aguilera allegedly ran from approaching officers with the Los Angeles Police Department and entered an apartment building in the 14600 block of Blythe Street.

Van Nuys Superior Court Judge John H. Major issued a 22-point injunction against members of the Blythe Street gang in the spring after the city attorney’s office convinced the judge that the gang uses otherwise legal activities to terrorize the community near the closed General Motors plant.

Aguilera was convicted Monday and sentenced to 10 days in County Jail and 25 days of graffiti removal.
