L.A. Convention

* To a city and its people struggling to overcome the adverse effects of riots, earthquakes and fire, I want to express the appreciation and admiration of our association for the outstanding hospitality and service provided us during our convention in Los Angeles last month.

Los Angeles drew a record-breaking attendance of 24,556 persons to the International Assn. of Amusement Parks and Attractions convention, almost a 25% increase over our previous attendance high.

It was a great convention in every respect. The office of the mayor provided valuable assistance during the wildcat truckers strike. The police and other city departments provided us with excellent service.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau promoted the show, adorned the city with welcome signs and assisted us in many other ways. The new convention center is a marvelous facility and its staff made things run more smoothly than we ever could have hoped.

Most impressive of all was the warmth and courteous reception given our guests by thousands of clerks, service personnel, taxi drivers, convention center employees, loading dock workers and virtually everyone else connected with our show or serving our guests.

For all of this we say, “thank you” and congratulations for a demonstration of hospitality, which has not been equaled in our experience.
