PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Defense Worked Last Season
Last season at the Coliseum, the Buffalo Bills had 350 yards and 22 first downs and lost to the Raiders, 20-3. A big reason for the Raiders’ victory was their ability to stop receiver Andre Reed, who caught six passes for 85 yards, from making the big play.
The Raiders did that by playing five defensive backs on nearly every play.
“We can take a look at what we did last year against them, but the bottom line is that we got to go out there and play,” Raider cornerback Terry McDaniel said.
This season the game will be played at Buffalo, where midday temperatures have been in the 30s.
“We can’t go out there and get caught up in the weather or the field,” McDaniel said. “We have to play there no matter what. We just have to get the job done this time.”
