COUNTYWIDE : Laguna Hills High Is Contest Winner

The Laguna Hills High School academic decathlon team beat 47 other teams to win Orange County’s competition and will represent the county at the March statewide tournament in Stockton.

Thanh Minh Tran of Westminster High School won the Huges math and science scholarship award, and Steve Lee of Century High School in Santa Ana won the Larry Minne challenge award.

The decathlon results were:

1. Laguna Hills High School, Saddleback Valley Unified: 46,403 points.

2. Trabuco Hills High School, Saddleback Valley: 46,284 points.

3. Foothill High School, Tustin Unified: 45,527 points.

4. Sunny Hills High School, Fullerton Joint Union: 44,900 points.

5. University High School, Irvine Unified: 44,789 points.

6. El Dorado High School, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified: 43,362 points.

7. El Toro High School, Saddleback Valley Unified: 42,480 points.

8. Esperanza High School, Placentia-Yorba Linda: 42,113 points.

9. Edison High School, Huntington Beach Union: 42,044 points.

10. Westminster High School, Huntington Beach: 41,802 points.
