Four people were injured, one believed critically, following an alcohol-related car crash at Channel Islands Boulevard and Rose Avenue in Oxnard on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Gina Beck, 32, of Oxnard was attempting to make a left turn onto the westbound lanes of Channel Islands Boulevard when her vehicle was struck by a car driven by an unidentified male motorist who ran a red light on Channel Islands Boulevard, Oxnard Police Officer Tim Lumas said. The crash occurred about 3:45 p.m.

Following the collision, the unidentified motorist’s car spun and flipped several times before coming to rest in the westbound lanes of Channel Islands Boulevard. The man, who is believed to have sustained major injuries, was rushed to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, Lumas said.

Beck was also taken to St. John’s complaining of head, neck and back injuries, but was treated and released.

Two passengers in the man’s car, Frederico Ortiz, 23, of Oxnard, and Lorenzo Garcia, were also injured in the collision. A nursing supervisor at St. John’s said Ortiz was in serious condition with head injuries. Garcia’s medical condition was not immediately known, nor was the driver’s.

Lumas said alcohol played a role in the collision but declined to provide details.
