Two pedestrians were killed Saturday night in separate hit-and-run accidents, in one of which the victim was struck by several cars on a highway.

A man was crossing the westbound Riverside Freeway east of Stanton Avenue in Buena Park about 9:40 p.m. Saturday when a car struck him and drove off. The man was then struck by at least two other cars, whose drivers stopped at the scene, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Don Hulen said.

“There were probably more cars than that ran over him but didn’t stop,” Hulen said. Police do not know the identity of the man.

The other hit-and-run occurred in the 2800 block of West Ball Road in Anaheim. Police said Jorge Alvarez, 24, was crossing the road at 9 p.m. when a car going about 40 m.p.h. struck him and drove off.

The victim died at the scene, Sgt. Richard Buccholz said.

Authorities are investigating both accidents.
