Share

Los Alamitos, the top-ranked team in Orange County, has played three of the four best teams in the Sunset League. All the Griffins have left is Huntington Beach, not an easy assignment.

Los Alamitos (13-0) plays the Oilers, the second-ranked team in the county, in the Southern Section Division II championship Saturday at Cerritos College. The Griffins, who have a 34-game unbeaten streak, are trying for their third consecutive title.

To get it, they will have to beat their third consecutive Sunset League opponent. Los Alamitos has defeated second-place Edison, 34-8, in the quarterfinals, and third-place Fountain Valley, 42-21, in the semifinals. The Griffins also beat fourth-place Marina, 42-0, in a nonleague game.
