‘Son of Lagunatics’ Nets About $26,000

Roughly $26,000 was netted through three recent performances of “Son of Lagunatics,” the musical spoof of Laguna Beach life produced in commemoration of the AIDS observance, A Day Without Art, according to a preliminary estimate by the show’s producer.

The money will be split equally between Laguna Shanti, an AIDS hospice, and Ballet Pacifica, which lost all its sets and costumes when its warehouse perished in October’s Laguna Canyon fire.

Ballet troupe artistic director Molly Lynch says the company’s share will probably be used for sets and costumes for 1994 performances. Other donations from individuals and foundations to the troupe have totaled about $25,000, said Lynch, who estimates that about $500,000 will be needed to restore all that was lost. A decision on whether to rebuild the troupe’s warehouse at its previous site has not been made, she says.
