SAN FERNANDO VALLEY : Parolee Gets Life Term for Killing Woman at Bank
A prison parolee who admitted killing a pregnant Toluca Lake woman during a botched robbery at an automated teller machine has been sentenced to life in prison.
Robert Glen Jones, 43, was sentenced for fatally stabbing Sheri Foreman on March 30 after she withdrew $40 from a teller machine in Sherman Oaks.
Moments before her death, a bank security camera captured an image of Jones in a Houston Oilers cap looking over her left shoulder.
Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Sandy Kriegler sentenced Jones to life in prison without the possibility of parole as part of a plea bargain that prevented prosecutors from seeking the death penalty.
It was determined that Jones stabbed Foreman during a struggle over her purse. Jones maintained that the stabbing was accidental. He had been released from prison in October, 1992, after serving a term for bank robbery.
