Valdivia Named Soccer MVP at Northridge

Senior forward Armando Valdivia was named most valuable player for the 1993 season at the Cal State Northridge soccer banquet Tuesday.

Valdivia led the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in goals (17), assists (20) and points (54). He was also named the MPSF Pacific Divsion’s most valuable player by league coaches. Valdivia’s 54 points were the third-best for a single season in Northridge history.

Other players honored were senior Teddy Davila (top offensive player), junior Mark McDonald (top defensive player) and sophomore Keith West (coaches’ award).

Northridge finished the season with a 12-9 record (5-2 in the MPSF) and its first playoff appearance at the Division I level.
