One man was arrested and four prison escapees were being sought through the streets of South-Central Los Angeles late Sunday night by law enforcement officials who said they are considered armed and dangerous.

Los Angeles police broadcast an all-points bulletin for the escapees after being notified by the U.S. Marshal’s Office, officials said. The Marshal’s Office said it would have no comment until this morning. Officials provided no information about the escapees, who reportedly had escaped from federal custody in Louisiana.

The missing suspects, believed to be two men and two women, were carrying handguns, LAPD Detective Dale Heatherington said.

The suspects were last seen in the area bordered by Avalon and Firestone boulevards, Alameda Street and Florence Avenue in a two-tone 1979 Pontiac station wagon with blacked-out rear side Windows.

Lt. Ron Sanchez said the man in custody was arrested without incident.
