College, Library to Share Grant

Saddleback College and the San Juan Capistrano Regional Library will share a $12,000 grant from the Western Alliance of Arts Administrators to jointly present multicultural programming.

Geof English, Saddleback’s performing arts director, and Jose Aponte, the library’s director, plan to collaborate on a weekend festival for late next summer or early fall featuring artists from various cultures performing at both institutions, which will share technical expertise, equipment, publicity efforts and other resources.

Both venues already have well-established performing-arts programs that present artists from around the world, and if the initial joint venture succeeds, an ongoing presenting relationship will be pursued, said English.
