THOUSAND OAKS : Mailbox Pipe Bomb Safely Detonated
- Share via
A live pipe bomb found in the mailbox outside a Thousand Oaks home was safely detonated Friday after the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad retrieved the device.
The fuse of the bomb had been lit, but it burned out before reaching the bomb, Detective Joe Braga said. If the device had detonated, it could have caused serious property damage and injured or killed people nearby, Braga said.
A resident of the home contacted police after finding the pipe bomb in the 3000 block of Wildhorse Court, police said. An investigation is continuing. Anyone with information should contact Braga at 494-8223.
