Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine, Loyola Marymount and Oxnard College have been selected as training sites for World Cup soccer teams scheduled to play first-stage games in the Rose Bowl, according to Frank Rojas, the World Cup Organizing Committee’s Los Angeles venue liaison manager.

Team representatives from Colombia, Cameroon, Romania and Sweden are touring the four sites this week and have until mid-January to notify FIFA of their selections. Colombia, as the highest-seeded team in the group, will have the first choice of facilities, followed by Romania, Cameroon and Sweden.

The U.S. team will also play two games in the Rose Bowl but will continue to train at its Mission Viejo facility. The Dana Point Resort Hotel will serve as headquarters for the U.S. team during the tournament. Visiting World Cup teams are expected to arrive in late May, about three weeks before the World Cup starts on June 17.
