PACOIMA : Whiteman Airport Renovation Planned
Bidding is set to begin next month for a project to widen and resurface the runway at Whiteman Airport in Pacoima.
The work will include reconstructing the taxiway and aprons and making drainage improvements.
The work, which will be funded largely by grants from the Federal Aviation Administration and the state Division of Aeronautics, is expected to begin in April and take 80 days to complete.
Whiteman Airport, a county-owned airfield, has 317 daily operations, and is projected to have 508 operations by 1998 and 815 by 2003, airport officials estimate.
