Police Lieutenant Swearingen Dies
Police Lt. Lyell Duane Swearingen died of an apparent heart attack on Wednesday, according to Sgt. James Jessen of the Los Alamitos Police Department. He was 51.
Jessen said that Swearingen collapsed at his home and died shortly after his arrival at Chapman General Hospital in Orange, where he was rushed by Orange County Fire Department paramedics.
A 24-year police veteran, Swearingen is survived by his wife, Joan, son Scott, daughters Lisa and Lori, and three grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday. Details will be announced later.
