* “Yaroslavsky Enters Race for Edelman’s Seat,” Dec. 8:

To county residents residing in a state of crisis comes a candidate with a call for reform. Los Angeles City Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky announced his formal entry into the race to fill the vacancy left by retiring County Supervisor Ed Edelman. Intent on shaking things up in a sleepy and fiscally careless county government, Yaroslavsky’s emphasis on public safety provides the light to his call for reform. The crisis for residents of the county is the state of law and order.

* It really is incredible. Yaroslavsky has declared his candidacy for county supervisor, stating that he is prepared to shake up a county government that is sleepy and fiscally careless. He goes on to say that his first priority is to keep the streets of Los Angeles safe!

Is it really possible that the voters of this city will embrace these thoughts from a city councilman who has been in a leadership position as this city has gone straight down the tubes?

Why doesn’t Yaroslavsky devote the next year to shaking up City Hall and providing some real safety to the citizens of Los Angeles? How long do we let our elected officials drink at the public trough without demanding some real results and leadership?

For this councilman to ask the public for a promotion shows how out of touch our elected officials have become.
