Fire Hits Home in Fountain Valley

Share

A fire caused nearly $200,000 damage to a home in the 9400 block of Ellis Avenue on Wednesday when it broke out in a room and spread to a wood-shingle roof that was covered by a newer roof, authorities said.

No one was home when the blaze broke out at 8:20 a.m. except the family dog, which escaped the blaze, said Battalion Chief Bob McVey. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in 10 minutes, McVey said.

Firefighters from Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach used chain saws and axes to get at the fire, which spread a blanket of thick smoke, McVey said.

Authorities said the cause of the fire is not known, but the blaze probably started in a home office. No firefighters were injured and no other homes were damaged in the fire, McVey said.
