LOS ALAMITOS — Two men, one armed with a small handgun, robbed a McDonald’s restaurant near the intersection of Los Alamitos Boulevard and Katella Avenue on Wednesday night, but police quickly captured one suspect after a short chase, authorities said.
A small amount of money was taken in the heist, according to police dispatcher Drake C. Letcher, but no one was injured.
Los Alamitos police pursued a Chevrolet pickup with a white camper shell described by witnesses, and pulled it over less than a minute after the robbery was reported. At the intersection of Katella and Dana Way in Cypress, one of the pickup’s occupants was taken into custody at gunpoint, but without incident.
A second man--who police say is armed--jumped from the pickup and fled on foot south on Dana Way into an industrial complex. Los Alamitos police were searching for him Wednesday night, assisted by officers from Cypress, Seal Beach, La Palma and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, as well as search dogs and a helicopter.
