If you haven’t made plans yet for New Year’s Eve, the city of Fullerton would like to make a date with you.

First Night Fullerton is an alcohol-free New Year’s Eve celebration featuring live entertainment and a fireworks finale. About 100 events will take place from 7 p.m. to midnight at more than 30 sites in the streets, sidewalks, parking lots and buildings of historic downtown Fullerton. Events will take place within the area bordered by Commonwealth, Lemon, Chapman and Malden streets.

Admission buttons are available the night of the party. Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children under 13.

About 10,000 people attended last year’s event.

The First Night program began in Boston in 1976, as part of the nation’s bicentennial, to offer an alternative to New Year’s celebrations that focus on alcohol and drinking. More than 100 U.S. cities now have similar programs.
