SEPTEMBER No exact date -- Official departure of last U.S., British and French forces from Berlin, leaving the German capital with no foreign military presence for the first time since 1945.
OCTOBER 3 -- First round of Brazilian general elections.
NOVEMBER 9 -- Fifth anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall.
