Craig McCallum Named President of Mission Viejo Co.

* Craig McCallum has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Mission Viejo Co.

As president, McCallum, 48, will be responsible for all commercial and residential development in planned communities such as 10,000-acre Mission Viejo and 6,600-acre Aliso Viejo and the 22,000-acre Highlands Ranch project in Colorado, said James G. Gilleran, chief executive officer.

Most recently, McCallum was president of Mission Viejo Co.’s Colorado division. His affiliation with the development company began in 1973, when he was a planner with the engineering firm of Raub, Bein Frost and Associates, a portion of which was acquired by Mission Viejo Co. Before that, he worked in the planning department of Irvine Co.

With 8,600 homes and 19,000 residents now, Aliso Viejo is expected to have 20,000 units and 48,000 residents when completed in 2005, a company spokeswoman said.

The Mission Viejo planned community now has 26,500 units and 75,700 residents, she said, and is expected to have about 30,400 dwelling units for a population of about 90,000 when it completes its 30-year plan in 1996.
