A lone bandit walked into a downtown bank Monday, handed a teller a note demanding cash and made off with about $2,000, authorities said.

The bandit entered Home Savings Bank at 620 N. Brand Blvd. at about 2:40 p.m., said Sgt. Lief Nicolaisen of the Glendale Police Department.

The man did not show a weapon and is believed to have approached a single teller window, Nicolaisen said. Nicolaisen said he did not know what the note said, but added that such notes typically imply the threat of a weapon.

The robber was last seen walking north out of the parking lot, and no vehicle was identified, Nicolaisen said.

The bandit is described as a Latino man about 40 years old with gray hair and beard, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He was seen wearing a navy blue shirt and gray slacks, Nicolaisen said.
