J.F. Williams Sharp in Victory Over Scherando

J.F. Williams wore down 4-5 favorite Scherando to win the $55,000 feature by 1 3/4 lengths Wednesday at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Kent Desormeaux, J.F. Williams stalked pace-setter Scherando from the start of the six-furlong race, made up ground from the quarter pole, took the lead inside the 16th pole and quickly drew clear.
J.F. Williams’ time of 1:08 was the second-fastest for six furlongs during the current Santa Anita meeting. He carried 116 pounds.
