PREP WRESTLING ROUNDUP : Estrada Helps Sunny Hills Defeat La Habra

Danny Estrada’s upset at 125 pounds helped Sunny Hills to a 50-12 victory over La Habra in a Freeway League meet Thursday at Sunny Hills.

Estrada pinned Mike Jarrett, ranked second in Orange County in his weight class, in 2 minutes 28 seconds for sixth-ranked Sunny Hills (14-0, 2-0).

In Century League:

Canyon 47, Santa Ana Valley 24--Nick May, Mike Stapleton and Daniel Webber all earned their first varsity victories for Canyon (2-1, 2-0). Elmer Alarcon pinned Mark Schlesinger for Santa Ana Valley (0-2 in league).

Villa Park 43, Foothill 21--Villa Park’s Dave Miura (125 pounds) got a pin in 5:37 for host Villa Park.

In the Empire League:

Los Alamitos 60, Cypress 16--Steve Trammel of Los Alamitos (3-0, 1-0) pushed his overall record to 6-1 as he pinned Doug Wheeler of Cypress, who drops to 26-2 on the year.

Loara 34, Katella 28--Ken Smith of Loara (8-3, 1-0) improved his record to 23-7 with a 2-0 decision over Jaime Marquez of Katella (8-3, 0-1).

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 36, Huntington Beach 32--Danny Brown (189 pounds) rallied from a near pin to win his match, 4-0, over Charlie Cathey to clinch the victory for visiting Fountain Valley.

In the Orange League:

Savanna 40, Valencia 27--Randy Bowers won, 24-4, at 119 pounds for host Savanna (10-1, 1-1). Aaron Garcia (152 pounds) and Jason Aston (160) each won by scores of 18-3.
