NEWBURY PARK, MOORPARK : Public Help Sought in Solving Thefts

Share

East Ventura County sheriff’s detectives are looking for help from the public to solve several recent thefts, including the theft of a hot-air balloon from a Newbury Park apartment.

Detectives are offering a $1,000 reward for information that would solve the theft of the balloon, which was packed in a jet-ski trailer in the carport of the apartment complex in the 1800 block of West Hillcrest Drive.

Between Jan. 8 and 10, someone cut the chains locking the multicolored balloon and its basket to the carport, officials said.

Detectives also are offering $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of three bicycle thieves who most recently forced the lock off a blue-green Huffy at 2:30 a.m. Jan. 6 from Spring Road in Moorpark.

Both rewards are part of the Sheriff’s Department’s Crime Stoppers program. People who call with information may remain anonymous and, if the information leads to an arrest with a criminal complaint filed, the caller will receive the reward.

The Crime Stoppers phone number is 494-TALK.
