An employee at an Orange County appliance store was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Saturday after he allegedly shot a customer with whom he had argued inside the store.

“It was a situation that just went way out of control,” Garden Grove Police Sgt. Joe Johnson said.

Johnson said the dispute began when the employee, identified as Andrew Ban, waited on a customer just before taking a lunch break at the Orange County Appliance Parts store in the 10000 block of Stanford Avenue.

Police did not know the reason for the argument, but said it spilled into the store’s parking lot about 12:35 p.m., when customer James Vincent Lannon followed Ban outside to his car. The customer allegedly yanked Ban out of the car and began fighting with him.

Johnson said Ban then pulled out a .38-caliber revolver and fired one shot, hitting Lannon in the leg. Both men were still at the scene when police arrived.

Ban, 30, of Huntington Beach, was taken into custody. Lannon, 37, of Corona, was transported to UCI Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
