Arena Named Best New Concert Venue

The readers of Poll Star magazine, a trade publication widely read in the concert industry, have named the Anaheim Arena the best new concert venue to open in 1993.
Gary Bongiovanni, editor of the Fresno-based magazine, said that the arena won out over four other nominees, including the Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion in San Bernardino County.
“It’s definitely a coup for us,” said arena spokesman John Nicoletti. “It’s nice to know we’re thought of as a major player among all the new venues around the world.”
Poll Star draws its national readership from the ranks of concert promoters, artist managers, booking agents, record company staffers and building managers.
The award, a plexiglass plaque, was conferred at ceremonies Monday night at the Paramount in New York City.
