Super Bowl Won’t Be Only Game in Town

This Super Bowl Sunday, the National Sports Grill will test the skills of armchair quarterbacks. The Buena Park restaurant is equipped with 40 television screens and QB1, an electronic game in which patrons can predict game plays.

Prizes will be awarded during commercials; game kickoff is at 3:18 p.m.

The National is offering its full selection of 35 beers and dishes such as Goal Line chicken, Full Back ribs and Triple Option chili.

Randell’s jazz club has added a 10-foot projection monitor and nine other viewing screens in time for the Super Bowl.

This week, the club is offering Sunday brunch beginning at 9:30 a.m. and served all day.

The menu, which will be created Sunday morning and will include Cajun dishes, runs from $3.95 to $9.95.

After the game, Itzafunkthang! will perform with vocalist Julie Harris.

Tonight and Friday night, diners are invited to bring their own bottles of wine to Restaurant Antoine to accompany a prix fixe meal. The menu, which has been designed to accompany California wines, includes an entree of lamb and seasonal vegetable navarin , a Chino Farm baby vegetable salad with smoked ostrich, and a basket of Pacific shellfish and lobster bisque.

The price for dinner, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m., is $65 per person, plus tax and tip.

Mrs. Knott’s Restaurants--the three outside of the Buena Park amusement park--have increased the size of their portions to “farm” size, while keeping the same prices. The portions are about one-third larger than before, said a Knott’s spokeswoman.

The restaurants have increased their use of leftover bags by three times since the new menu was introduced, said Karl Holz, vice president of theme park and restaurant operations.
