Zeidman to Quit Distribution Post at Miramax

Miramax Films confirmed that its longtime distribution chief, Marty Zeidman, will leave the company soon.

A Miramax spokeswoman said Zeidman plans to get into other film ventures, but she declined to say who will replace him. However, sources confirmed reports that Jack Foley, who formerly headed distribution at MGM/UA, has been tapped for the job at the maverick film distributor, which is known for releasing such films as “The Crying Game” and “The Piano.”

Zeidman has been with Miramax, which was bought last year by Walt Disney Co., for nearly six years. In a statement, Miramax co-Chairmen Bob and Harvey Weinstein praised Zeidman and said they are sorry he is leaving.
