DANA POINT : Speech Will Kick Off Festival of Whales

Peter Burtchell of the Cousteau Society will kick off the city’s Festival of Whales with a speech titled “Threats to Our Global Ocean” at 7 p.m. Feb. 25 at Dana Hills High School.

Burtchell will be joined, via satellite from Belize, by Robert Ballard, who discovered the R.M.S. Titanic. Their presentation will focus on how the exploitation of the ocean is changing our lifestyle.

They will also offer solutions and opportunities for individual action to make the world safer.

Donations of $15 per person, or $25 for special seats, are requested. The money will benefit the Orange County Marine Institute, Dana Hills High School and the Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary’s Village Bank project in Belize.
