A domestic dispute involving a family and a neighbor left a 10-year-old boy and his father wounded Friday night, the father critically, authorities said.

The neighbor, Arthur Harry Triebel, 39, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into Orange County Jail.

Witnesses told Orange County sheriff’s deputies that the incident began with an argument involving four members of the same family in the driveway of their home in the 200 block of West Escalones.

Triebel attempted to intervene in the dispute, and shooting began, authorities said.

When deputies responded, Triebel turned himself in, saying “I’m the one you’re looking for,” according to Sgt. Steve Bernardi.

A semiautomatic pistol was seized, and Triebel was taken into custody.

The wounded man, 32, was taken to Mission Community Hospital, where he was reported in critical condition, undergoing surgery for a bullet wound to the chest.

His son was being treated at Samaritan Medical Center in San Clemente for a bullet wound to his index finger.

The victim’s wife and younger child, who were involved in the dispute, were not injured, police said.

Sheriff’s officials said they were unsure of what prompted the family argument or the shooting, which was reported at 6:40 p.m. The names of the victims were not available late Friday.
