AND ONE MORE THING: In case you were wondering about the haunting instrumental bit of “Blue Moon” used in Norwegian Cruise Lines’ current TV ad--you might have seen it during the Super Bowl telecast last week--it’s not the Cowboy Junkies.

Junkies guitarist Michael Timmins says that the group was asked to provide its version of the song, which is on the group’s 1987 breakthrough album “The Trinity Session,” for the spot, but declined.

“I don’t have anything against people who let their music be used in commercials,” he says. “But when it’s something we put a lot of heart into, we want the audience to feel the same way and I’m not sure they do when it’s used to sell something.”

As for the version in the ad, Timmins says, “It’s flattering that they wanted it to sound like us.” But he jokingly says he can tell the difference: “I know it’s not us because this version is played in rhythm.”*
