A 42-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of drunk driving and hit-and-run driving after a traffic accident that left his 13-year-old son and the driver of the other vehicle hospitalized.

Police said Terrence Molloy of Huntington Beach was turning left from Beach Boulevard onto Cypress Street when his pickup truck collided with a car driven by Deborah L. Gray, 37, also of Huntington Beach.

Molloy’s truck spun across the intersection into a brick planter at a tire store.

Molloy fled on foot, leaving his injured son, Thomas, behind, Police Lt. Jeff Cope said. A short time later, police found and arrested him.

Thomas Molloy and Gray were both taken to Huntington Beach Medical Center, where the boy was hospitalized for head injuries and the woman for neck and back pain.

Terrence Molloy was not hurt, police said.
