Stacey Augmon scored a season-high 26 points and the Atlanta Hawks made 64% of their shots and had their highest-scoring game of the season in a 141-97 rout of the Detroit Pistons on Monday night at Atlanta.

“Everybody came in, played hard and just took the game away from them,” said Coach Lenny Wilkens after the Hawks recorded their largest victory margin since moving to Atlanta. “I was very happy with that. When you get a chance to put a team out of the game, you want to. Tonight we didn’t give them any opportunities.”

Five other Hawks scored in double figures--Mookie Blaylock with 18, Dominique Wilkins 17, Kevin Willis 16, Craig Ehlo 15 and rookie Doug Edwards 11, his season high. Willis also had 11 rebounds and Augmon matched his season high with 10.

Atlanta never trailed after Wilkins, who made his first seven shots, broke a 2-2 tie. A 15-4 second-quarter run in which Ehlo, Wilkins and Ennis Whatley each scored four points gave Atlanta a 51-30 lead 3:55 before halftime.

The Hawks have won eight of their last 10 games, while Detroit has lost 23 of 25.

Allan Houston led the Pistons with 22 points.

Indiana 104, Golden State 99--Rik Smits, who had season highs of 28 points and 13 rebounds, made a key basket with 14 seconds to play at Indianapolis.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Indiana, equaling its longest winning streak in three years.

Philadelphia 125, Charlotte 117--Jeff Hornacek scored 36 points and Tim Perry scored a career-high 31, including a club-record seven three-point baskets, to lead the 76ers at Philadelphia.

The Hornets, who have been without Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning since late December, have lost seven in a row.

Miami 96, New York 85--Rony Seikaly sparked a third-quarter surge and scored 22 points to help the Heat overcome a 17-point deficit at Miami.
