Council Relaxes Sign Rules to Aid Businesses

Share

In an attempt to give Lomita businesses a boost, the City Council will allow temporary signs, banners and sidewalk displays to remain in front of stores for up to six months.

Council members voted 4 to 1 Monday to lift regulations requiring store owners to take down such displays after 60 days. Harold Croyts voted against the measure.

By relaxing the limits on advertising in Lomita, the city hopes to stimulate its struggling economic base, which consists exclusively of small businesses.

The new policy begins immediately and will last until Sept. 1.
