Chevalier’s 18 Lead Northridge
Andre Chevalier scored 18 points, including four consecutive free throws in the final 26 seconds, to lift Cal State Northridge to an 89-84 win over Northeastern Illinois Thursday night at Pepperdine’s Firestone Fieldhouse.
A balanced scoring effort, led by Chevalier, helped the Matadors (5-15) overcome 33 points by Reggie Smith, who had five three-pointers for Northeastern Illinois (13-9).
The game was played at Pepperdine because Northridge’s earthquake-damaged gym will not open until Monday.
